In 1999, several families from the Byron Center community felt God was preparing them to start a new church, most of whom were attending Grand Rapids International Fellowship (GRIF, formerly Grand Rapids First Church of the Nazarene). At the same time, God was calling the leadership at GRIF to be more intentional with reaching out to others in the name of Christ. Together, we prayed and planned, asking God for wisdom and direction to pursue His will with this vision. It wasn’t long after that God began to answer our prayers and open doors into the Byron Center community,
making the vision for a new church into a reality!
In October, 2000, High Pointe Community Church held its first public worship service in Byron Center Christian Middle School with over 180 in attendance. It was clear that God was moving the launch team of High Pointe to start their mission off with His strength and hope! Since that first Sunday, High Pointe has grown and changed, but has kept the same fiery passion for God’s mission and for loving the people both in and outside our doors. We celebrate those early days, but look forward to seeing what God has for our future and invite you to be a part of our story today!
